Equipment

  • The inspection consists on measurement of the difference between the principal stresses acting circumferentially and radially in the wheel rim along a measurement trace running radially from the tread to the lower edge of the wheel rim
  • The measurement is done by means of two electromagnetic ultrasonic probes (EMAT) with transmitter and receiver for generation of a linearly polarized shear wave
  • Both probes are mounted in two separated manipulators units to test both wheels simultaneously and controlled by PLC
  • The validation of the measured curves is done completely automatic
